Ah, Christmas cookies. They're a tradition for almost everyone I know. While I'm not the biggest fan of sugar cookies normally (they're boring) something about Christmas simply begs for them. I think it has something to do with decorating them while listening to Christmas music and making yet another giant holiday mess in the kitchen. Oh, and they make the best shaped cookie cutters for Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8419364152735881985.post-25942095128654613832012-12-24T00:54:00.000-06:002012-12-24T00:54:27.323-06:00Candy Cane Fingers and Reindeer Toes
Candy cane stripe nails are beginning to be a Christmas tradition for my fingers. I've attempted them several times, with limited success, using the tape method often touted on Pinterest. This year I went a different route and tried some nail pens and they definitely simplified things. Of course I don't think I'll ever get the stripes perfect, so I'll keep covering up the mistakes with a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8419364152735881985.post-34320163751489724932012-12-22T22:15:00.002-06:002012-12-22T22:15:13.560-06:00Mayan Doomsday MixerI decided to take the occasion of the end of the world as the perfect excuse to party. Luckily for me, the Museum of Natural Science was throwing the biggest (and probably best) bash around; food trucks, cash bars, great music, salsa dancing, and DINOSAURS. Nothing's beats the combined power of entertainment and education, right?

I could not capture any photos of the lettering without compromising the privacy of those receiving the cards, and they probably wouldn't like that. Maybe next time.

My oven is still broken. :(
Obviously, I didn't make the cookies pictured here all that recently. In fact, these were our Thanksgiving dessert (please don't hang me for treason because we didn't have pie). The recipe cam from an issue of Food and Wine Magazine that mysteriously appeared in our house last month. It was filled with a ton of tasty recipes, but oddly enough the one I'm Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8419364152735881985.post-66887152395772366632012-12-13T16:22:00.002-06:002012-12-13T16:22:33.813-06:00Things I Love Thursday
The expressions of envy on my coworkers' faces when they saw the awesome train that came in my Wendy's happy meal. It came with stickers and a giraffe head.
Did I mention that happy meal was less than 600 Calories and cost only $2
I was sick and missed work on Tuesday, so I had plenty of chicken broth. Then I got to bring it to work with me on Wednesday too. (novel concept, amirite?) Awesome because this way I don't have to be sad all afternoon because I only have 10% battery life, nor do I have to spend the evening awkwardly holding my phone while it's stuck to the charger cable either. Win-Win I say.

Nail art is ridiculously popular. Oh, you already knew that? Yeah, it's not news anymore...
Well, new phenomenon or not this trend now requires everyone to run around with perfectly adorable painted nails all the time. Ha! Okay, so they should be *really* cute when they actually get painted anyway.
